Army Specialist Augustus ‘Augy’ J. Vicari, 22, of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, was assigned to 1st Battalion, 279th Infantry Regiment, 45th Infantry Brigade Combat Team, Oklahoma Army National Guard, based in Tulsa, Oklahoma. On July 29th, 2011, he died of wounds suffered when insurgents attacked his unit with an improvised explosive device.

Specialist Vicari graduated from Lowell High School in Indiana in 2008 and moved to Broken Arrow shortly after with his fiancée. He joined the Oklahoma National Guard in 2009. He is remembered as a “quick wit and ready to smile.” He leaves behind his wife, his parents, and four siblings.
