Army Sergeant Devin Daniels
Army Sergeant Devin James Daniels, 22, of Kuna, Idaho, was with the 546th Transportation Company, 82nd Sustainment Brigade, XVIII Airborne Corps, at Fort Bragg, NC. He was killed August 25, 2011, in Kariz-e Sefid, Helmand Province, Afghanistan, when an improvised explosive device struck his vehicle.
SGT Daniels joined the military in 2008, shortly after graduating from Eagle High School. Trained as an 88M motor-transport operator, he joined the 546th Transportation Company and deployed to Afghanistan in 2010. He was posthumously promoted from corporal to sergeant and awarded the Bronze Star Medal and Purple Heart.
SGT Daniels enjoyed Idaho’s outdoors and especially loved hunting with his father. He loved the military and found a home in it. His fellow soldiers remembered him as a hard charging and squared away soldier and someone that the chain of command could always count on to complete a mission.
SGT Daniels was survived by his wife and daughter. He said that the birth of his daughter in January 2011 was a highlight of his life; he had returned home on leave to be present for her birth.
