Firefighter Michael Ramsey, 54, of was stationed at the San Mateo Consolidated Fire Department in California. He died courageously battling job-related prostate cancer on July 21, 2023.

Ramsey was born in Minneapolis, Minnesota, and enjoyed surfing and his motorcycle. He began his 33-year career as a firefighter in 1989, volunteering with the Tuolumne County Fire Department. In 1996, he joined the San Mateo Consolidated FD where he served faithfully for 26 years.

According to his fellow firefighters, he served with purpose, dignity and dedication. He was the epitome of a professional firefighter. His community included the citizens of San Mateo, Belmont and Foster City, along with surrounding areas throughout the state.

Ramsey was a dedicated family man with an enthusiasm for life and for those he loved. He was an amazing human and fought his disease with everything he had. His strength and determination amazed all who knew and loved him.

He is survived by his wife Sallie and his children Alyssa, Tyson and Juliette.
