Police Officer Chris Yung, 35, of the Prince William County Police Department in Virginia, was involved in a motorcycle accident on December 31, 2012, at the intersection of Nokesville Road and Piper Lane, in Bristow, while responding to the scene of a separate automobile accident. He was transported to a local hospital where he died from his injuries.
Officer Yung joined the U.S. Marine Corps at 18 and proudly served in Iraq during Operation Iraqi Freedom. Returning home, he joined the Prince William County Police department where he served for seven years and was assigned to their Traffic Unit.
In 2015, a new elementary school in Bristow was named in his honor. “Chris was a good guy with a huge heart and with a great smile that would translate well to being a good role model for kids,” said Gina Lapihuska. “He sacrificed his life for this community and for this country, the least we can do is name a school in his honor.”
He is fondly remembered as “a kind-hearted soul who made everyone think that they were his best friend.”
Officer Yung was survived by his wife Robin and his three children Christopher, Clayton, and Paige.
