| Honoree's Story | Master Sergeant Scott R. Ball, 38, of Mount Holly Springs, PA., was assigned to the 55th Brigade of the Pennsylvania Army National Guard and served during Operation Enduring Freedom. On August 27, 2007, MSG Ball was killed when his convoy was attacked during a resupply mission in Jalalabad, Afghanistan.
A 1988 graduate of West Perry High School, MSG Ball joined the Army in 1992. He reported to Fort Leonard Wood, Mo., for basic training and completed Airborne School shortly thereafter. MSG Ball was assigned to the 82nd Airborne and served during Desert Storm. After transferring to the Army National Guard, he was fist assigned to Germany and then Afghanistan.
In his civilian life, MSG Ball became a Pennsylvania State Trooper in 2000. He also held a pilot’s license with Harrisburg Jet Center and was a volunteer fire fighter with the Shermans Dale Fire Department.
MSG Ball enjoyed family, friends, dirt track racing, football, music and traveling.
MSG Ball is survived by his wife, Leslie, son Tyler and daughter Allie.
