Captain Todd M. Siebert, 34, of Baden, Penn., was assigned to the 3rd Battalion, 6th Marine Regiment, 2nd Marine Division, II Marine Expeditionary Force at Camp Lejeune, N.C., and served during Operation Iraqi Freedom. On February 16, 2007, Capt. Siebert was killed while conducting combat operations in Anbar province, Iraq.
A 1990 graduate of North Allegheny High School, where he participated in the Junior Reserve Officers’ Training Program, Capt. Siebert enlisted in the Marines in 1992, and was promoted to sergeant two years later. He received a commission as an infantry officer in 1999, after he graduated from Penn State University, where he studied criminal justice. Capt. Siebert was awarded the Purple Heart, the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal, the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal, the Combat Action Ribbon, the Marine Corps Good Conduct Medal and many others for his service and sacrifice.
Capt. Siebert was a member of the Marine Historical Society, was an avid collector of World War II military memorabilia and enjoyed landscaping. “Todd was a very loving, caring, personable, sensitive person,” said his father. “From high school ROTC to the Marine Corps, he loves and believed in what he was doing. Everyone he met and knew thought highly of him. In his very last email from Iraq, he said he loved his job.”
Capt. Siebert’s son is a Folds of Honor Scholarship recipient.
