Soldier Honored: Robert E. Hall Jr

Specialist (SPC) Robert Hall, 30, was assigned to the 467th Engineer Battalion, US Army Reserve in Greenwood, MS.  He worked as a driver for Waste Management Inc. in Ambridge and in 1997, joined the Army Reserves. SPC Hall was a member of the Individual Ready Reserve, and was involuntarily recalled to active duty in September of 2004 to fill a vacancy in a Mississippi unit.  On June 28, 2005, SPC Hall was killed in Ad Dujayl, Iraq, when a vehicle-borne improvised explosive device detonated near his dismounted position at the gate of his forward operating base.

A 1993 graduate of North Hills High School in Mississippi, SPC Hall’s sister said he loved to play soccer and video games. He was a very serious man who kept to himself and was extremely devoted to his three-year-old daughter.

SPC Hall is survived by his wife and daughter, who is a Folds of Honor Children’s Fund Scholarship recipient.
