First Lieutenant (1LT) Demetrius Frison, 26, was assigned to 1st Battalion, 26th Infantry Regiment, 3rd Brigade combat Team, 1st Infantry Division in Fort Knox, Kentucky.  He joined the Army in 2009 and arrived at Fort Knox in October, 2010. On January 9, 2011, 1LT Frison deployed for his first time to Afghanistan. He died May 10, 2011, in Chergataw, Khost province, Afghanistan, as a result of wounds suffered when insurgents attacked his unit using an improvised explosive device.


A graduate of Parkway Northwest High School, 1LT Frison received his bachelor's degree in psychology from Millersville University in 2008. While in college, 1LT Frison was Vice-President of the university's NAACP chapter. He was also a member of the Black Student Union. 1LT Frison worked at the Lancaster Youth Intervention Center for 2 years as a youth care worker where he spent most of his time counseling and mentoring troubled teens. He left the youth center to join the Army.


1LT Frison is survived by his wife and son, who is a Folds of Honor Children’s Fund scholarship recipient.
