Army Staff Sergeant Kevin C. Kimmerly, 31, of North Creek, New York, was assigned to B Battery, 4th Battalion, 27th Field Artillery Regiment, based in Baumholder, Germany. He was killed on September 15th, 2003, when his vehicle was hit by a rocket-propelled grenade in Baghdad. Staff Sergeant Kimmerly had previously served in Bosnia and Kosovo. He was due to return home in three weeks.

He is remembered as a “real down-to-earth guy and there was never anything he wouldn’t do for you.” Staff Sergeant Kimmerly and his twin brother played basketball in high school and were known as the “twin towers.” He leaves behind a wife and a son.
