CW2 Scott, of Sun Prairie, Wisconsin, was assigned to the 1st Squadron, 17th Cavalry Regiment, 82nd Airborne Division, out of Ft. Bragg, NC. He deployed to Iraq in November of 2004. On May 26, 2005 CW2 was flying an OH-58 (Kiowa Warrior) on a mission in Buhriz, Iraq when he and his co-pilot came under attack from small arms fire and crashed. Both CW2 Joshua Scott and his co-pilot CW4 Matthew Lourey died on May 27, 2005 from wounds sustained in combat action.
CW2 Scott graduated high school in 1995, enlisting immediately afterwards. Joining the Army was a lifelong dream for CW2 Scott; he played army games and built forts growing up. Scott married his high school sweetheart Sherri in 1999 and they welcomed three children into their family.
