Soldier Honored: Joshua M. Scott

CW2 Scott, of Sun Prairie, Wisconsin, was assigned to the 1^st Squadron, 17^th Cavalry Regiment, 82^nd Airborne Division, out of Ft. Bragg, NC. He deployed to Iraq in November of 2004. On May 26, 2005 CW2 was flying an OH-58 (Kiowa Warrior) on a mission in Buhriz, Iraq when he and his co-pilot came under attack from small arms fire and crashed. Both CW2 Joshua Scott and his co-pilot CW4 Matthew Lourey died on May 27, 2005 from wounds sustained in combat action.

CW2 Scott graduated high school in 1995, enlisting immediately afterwards. Joining the Army was a lifelong dream for CW2 Scott; he played army games and built forts growing up. Scott married his high school sweetheart Sherri in 1999 and they welcomed three children into their family.
