--Received the 2020 NJCAA Division II Phil Mickelson Outstanding Freshman Award at South Mountain Community College.
--Earned a pair of individual victories and finished inside the top-five in his six other starts during the 2019-20 calendar.
--In his eight tournaments, Salvanera posted a scoring average of 69.33 to lead all of NJCAA Division II.
AS A SUN DEVIL
--Finished second at the 2022 Southwestern Amateur held June 15-18 with a 10-under 274 (67-63-72-72).
BEFORE ASU
--Started the year by winning the Park University Desert Classic on Sept. 11 and 12, 2019, at Bear Creek Golf Course. He fired a four-under 67 on the first day and followed that up with a one-under 70 on the second day to claim individual medalist.
--At the Ottawa University tournament, Salvanera trailed by one after a first-day, four-under 68 at the Eagles Nest Golf Course in Goodyear, Ariz. On the second day, he fired a seven-under 65 and followed that up with a six-under 66 to finish 17-under for the tournament and capture individual medalist honors.
"Gabe has been the model student-athlete. His leadership in the classroom and on the course helped guide us to become the top team in the country both academically and athletically," said SMCC head coach Aaron Puetz. "Gabe has a very bright future, and we are so happy to see his continued academic and golf career just a few miles down the road at Arizona State University."
