Staff Sergeant Edwardo Loredo, 34, of Houston, Texas, died June 24, 2010 in Jelewar, Afghanistan. from njuries sustained when an IED was detonated near his dismounted patrol. Sergeant Loredo was just one day away from his 35th birthday.
SSG Loredo was an Army Airborne soldier. He served combat tours in both Iraq and Afghanistan and was with the 2nd Battalion, 508th Parachute Infantry Regiment, 82nd Airborne out of Fort Bragg, N.C.
He graduated from Sam Houston High School and joined the Army shortly after graduation. He was an adventurer. He adored his wife and family, and he loved to cook for them.
During a tribute to him, the following was said: “The real story of the 82nd Airborne Division is the selfless men like Edwardo Loredo–one of the thousands of paratroopers in jump boots, baggy pants, and maroon berets. They jump out of aircraft loaded with a ton of gear and stare danger right in the face.”
He is survived by his wife, 1SGT Jennifer Loredo; daughter, Laura; stepdaughter, Alexis; and son, Eduardo.
