Corporal Evan Marshall, 21, of Athens, Georgia was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 8th Infantry Regiment, 3rd Brigade Combat Team, 4th Infantry Division, Fort Carson, Colo. He died January 28, 2008, serving during Operation Iraqi Freedom when the Humvee which he was driving as part of a platoon sized operation was struck by a roadside bomb killing Evan and four others in the northern Iraqi city of Mosul.

Cpl Marshall turned 18, graduated from Cedar Shoals High School and reported for basic training at Ft Benning, GA all within a period of 10 days in June 2004. He was deployed twice to Iraq - in December 2005 and then again in December 2007. Cpl Marshall was awarded the Bronze Star and Purple Heart.

“Evan was 21 years of age when he died.” said his dad, Andrew Marshall, “He took pride in his service to our country, never complained of hardship and danger, and was a beloved and loyal comrade to his fellow soldiers. We honor his service and sacrifice, and are filled with awe at the courage and devotion to duty which Evan exhibited.”

Cpl Marshall is survived by his parents, Andrew and Sheila Marshall and sister, Alice.
