Phoenix Police Officer David Glasser, 35, and a 12-year veteran of the Phoenix Police Force, died in the line of duty May 19, 2016. A call came into the station come about 2:30 p.m. on Wednesday, May 18. A father was worried about his son, who had just robbed him and stolen his guns. After meeting with the father, a team of six officers headed to the man's residence.

Glasser and his partner went to the home and parked behind a car in the driveway without knowing an armed man was inside. He opened fire when the officers got out of their car, and police shot back, killing the gunman.

Glasser loved football and all things ASU, his alma mater. He was also a huge fan of the Arizona Cardinals. He would organize tailgate parties for every game and invite old and new friends alike.

He made a habit of telling people he loved them and showing love to them. He thought this was so important that he said, ‘love you’ to everyone he cared about instead of ‘good-bye’. He was so persistent that even his squad of tough cops at work said “love you’ to each other – or yelled it to each other – before they left the squad room.

Officer Glasser is survived by his wife, Kristen and two children.
