Soldier Honored: Demetrius M. Frison

First Lieutenant Demetrius M. Frison, 26, of Lancaster, Pennsylvania, was assigned to the 1^st Battalion, 26^th Infantry Regiment, 3^rd Brigade Combat Team, 1^st Infantry Division at Fort Knox, Kentucky.  On May 10, 2001, while serving during Operation Enduring Freedom, 1LT Frison died of wounds suffered when insurgents attacked his unit in Khost province, Afghanistan.

First Lieutenant Frison graduated from Parkway Northwest High School and received a bachelor's degree in psychology from Millersville University in 2008. 1LT Frison was Vice-President of the university's NAACP chapter. He was also a member of the Black Student Union. 1LT Frison worked at the Lancaster Youth Intervention Center for two years as a youth care worker, where he spent most of his time counseling and mentoring troubled teens. He left the youth center to join the Army in April 2009.

First Lieutenant Frison’s awards and decorations include the Parachutist badge, National Defense Service medal, Global War on Terror Service medal, Army Service ribbon, Army Commendation medal, and was posthumously awarded a Bronze Star and Purple Heart medals.

1LT Frison is survived by his wife and son, who is a Folds of Honor Children’s Fund scholarship recipient.
