Soldier Honored: Tenzin L. Samten

Army Private 1^st Class Tenzin L. Samten, of Prescott, Arizona, was assigned to the 7^th Special Troops Battalion, 7^th Sustainment Brigade, 10^th Mountain Division (Light Infantry), based in Fort Eustis, Virginia. On March 12, 2008, he lost his life, serving during Operation Iraqi Freedom, of wounds sustained when his vehicle was hit by indirect fire.  He was 33 years old.

Private 1^st Class Samten enlisted in the Army in July of 2006 and completed basic training at Fort Jackson, South Carolina, and advanced individual training at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri. Pfc. He posthumously received a promotion to Specialist and a Purple Heart medal. His awards and decorations also include the National Defense Service Medal and the Iraq Campaign Medal. He left behind his wife and two children.
