Army Private 1st Class Tenzin L. Samten, of Prescott, Arizona, was assigned to the 7th Special Troops Battalion, 7th Sustainment Brigade, 10th Mountain Division (Light Infantry), based in Fort Eustis, Virginia. On March 12, 2008, he lost his life, serving during Operation Iraqi Freedom, of wounds sustained when his vehicle was hit by indirect fire.  He was 33 years old.

Private 1st Class Samten enlisted in the Army in July of 2006 and completed basic training at Fort Jackson, South Carolina, and advanced individual training at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri. Pfc. He posthumously received a promotion to Specialist and a Purple Heart medal. His awards and decorations also include the National Defense Service Medal and the Iraq Campaign Medal. He left behind his wife and two children.
